Appearance!! Wahala!

“You are addressed by the way you dress.“

Jaachynma N.E. Agu

This is not a matter the religion, background, belief or conviction, this is the accepted code for morality everywhere. The first mode of perception or qualifying anyone is based on how the person looks. The central idea or first impression one gets about a person is based on how he/she looks.

Most people who are subject to this moral code of conduct are mostly women and it is very difficult not to address a lady without describing her appearance. We can say the lady with the long hair, short dress, long legs etc…
Due to this, ladies are very conscious of their appearances; what to wear, how to look, talk and walk. These days, the guys are now dominating the indecency pool with their trousers on their ankles and their dirty boxers showing like a prisoner in Azkaban.

My writing doesn’t go out to those who wear the skimpy and showy affairs, because wear it not out of ignorance, but with an understanding of the market pool they are invested in, thereby they need the attention, the seduction and the attraction in other to increase their profit share (which is a psychological issue for another day).

My writing goes out to those who overdo the moral code and thereby dress like a monster with the aim of fulfilling saying they are fulfilling righteousness.

One quick question, “How would you fill if a beggar on the street says he knows a sure way to secure 1million naira?” wouldn’t you say he should first use get and use it on himself and radiate the fact that he has access to knowledge in spades of millions. Then why subject unbelievers to doubt in the God we serve with the same way we dress? why wear shapeless clothes in the aim of hiding their curves or figures and saying that is the way to show holiness.

Holiness has nothing to do with the fact that you wear fitted fashionable dress nor does the fact that you are wearing shapeless clothes prove that you are holy. Except you have a conviction from the lord not to wear a certain thing, then ride on that conviction. But forcing people to look badly dress is not the way. It only makes you ridiculous.

I can never forget Titi, a coursemate during my undergraduate course days at the University of Lagos. This lady spoke volumes with her dressing, she wore fitted skirts, tops and dresses that were conservative, but fashionable and when she spoke about christ, everyone wanted to listen. Not only because of the anointing but because they could see the virtuality in her. The decency and the way she looked well kept. Who doesn’t like the better things?

Being modest is being sophisticated in all manner. What I want you to do is know and understand your body type and find out dresses that suit your body type and dress accordingly. Take care of your skin, look clean and presentable. That way you would glorify God’s beauty in your life.

Here are a couple of pictures to guide you on what to wear according to your body type and still look fabulous and well “holy”
